Corporate Registration

As part of the business entity adjuster licensing process, many states require verification that the company has registered with the secretary of state's office as an out-of-state company authorized to do business in the state. This applies to corporations, LLC's and partnerships, and other types of business entities. In addition, if the company does not have its own office or physical address in the particular state, the company is required to retain a "registered agent" to receive government and other formal documents on behalf of the company.

The corporate registration and registered agent process can be time consuming, and if not completed efficiently can cause delays in the business entity adjuster licensing process itself.

TPA License Overlap

State requirements for adjuster and TPA licensing are not always clear and sometimes the requirements appear to overlap.  Depending on the state in question and the lines of insurance administered (life, health, property & casualty, workers compensation), companies may be required to obtain a combination of individual adjuster licenses, business entity adjuster licenses and/or TPA licenses.  Talk to Patton Compliance regarding your company's license compliance obligations for your states and lines of insurance administered.
